HOMELESS
It was a
pity and sorrowful sight to behold at No 49 Osian Street by
Onyeacholem Street when a house belonging to one Mr. Godwin was razed
down by fire. The ugly incident which took place on Sunday, 30th
September, 2012 had all the properties in the building burnt to
ashes.
Narrating the
ordeal to newsmen, the victim’s daughter, Miss Joy Godwin said that,
on that fateful day her family members and other occupants of the
building went to church, and about 12noon people from the
neighborhood came to their church with the news that their house was
on fire.

She stated that
immediately, they rushed down home only to meet crowd of people,
including men of the Agbor Fire Service making efforts to put off the
fire. Miss Godwin however appreciated God over the situation, saying
that, they are still alive and that only those who are alive that are
guaranteed of better life tomorrow.
Miss Godwin
called on well- meaning Nigerians, federal and State government to
come to their aid, as the fire outbreak has rendered them homeless.
Some person
living around the area disclosed to Ika weekly that the fire outbreak
must have resulted from the high power voltage brought by PHCN

AUTO ACCIDENT ALONG
BENIN/ASABA ROAD NO LIFE LOST
A light green coloured
ford Hilux with registration number Abuja BK 267-BWR was on Saturday
29th September 2012 involved in an accident with a truck with the
registration number Edo BEN-32XB at Emuhu along the new Benin/Asaba
express road in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State. Ika
Weekly was at the scene at about 10:30am and met with one of the eye
witnesses who disclosed that the Hilux was heading towards the same
direction with the truck and hit it (truck) from the back stressing
that the accident was as a result of over speeding the accident
attracted sympathizers who came to rescue the Hilux driver who was
trapped inside the car and was rushed to kifa hospital in Umunede
for treatment. When Ika Weekly visited him at the hospital, the hilux
driver Mr. John Ebegbe who is from Edo State thanked God for saving
his life praying God to grant him speed recovery members of the
Federal Road safety corps new at the scene of the accident to perform
of normal duty while a large number of people gathered with mixed
feelings.
