It was a terrible experience on Sunday the 9th
of October, 2011as the family of Mayawo in Oyoko, Abavo, Ika South Local
Government Area of Delta State were thrown into a sorrowful mood following the brutal murder of their son, Mr. Boniface
Mayawo by a 17 years old secondary school girl, Miss. Oluchi Inyere.
Speaking
with Ika Weekly, the father of the deceased, Mr. Clement Mayawo disclosed that
the murder incident occurred at about 8:pm on that fateful Sunday. He said his
son (Boniface) was in his family compound when Oluchi came and asked Boniface
to help her enter a recharge card pin number into his phone, that she (Oluchi)
wanted to transfer a hundred naira (N100) recharge card to another person but
it was not successful Boniface did
exactly what she said but his (Boniface) effort to re-transfer the recharge
card from his own phone to Oluchi’s phone proved abortive. Mr. Mayawo further
narrated that his son thereafter told Oluchi to make call with his phone in
order to exhaust the one hundred naira recharge card but the suspected murderer
who is a student of Abavo Mixed Secondary School disagreed, insisting that
Boniface should buy her another recharge card, and in the process she took
Boniface unawares and stabbed him with a sharp object in his neck where he died
a few minutes later
The
bereaved father pointed out that nobody would have known that Oluchi stabbed
his son if he had died immediately in his room where the incident occurred,
saying that his son struggled out of the house and chased the suspected
murderer before he got tired and fell down in the street with blood gushing out
of his neck. It was reported that Oluchi
followed Boniface to his room during the argument that led to the young man’s
untimely death.
Mr.
Clement Mayawo also stated that since the incident occurred, none of Oluchi’s
family members has come for settlement to beg for what their daughter did.

who initially escaped to Alihame has been caught by the Abavo Vigilante group,
led by Mr. Charles Gboma and is now with the Agbor Police.
