AGBOR (Ika Weekly) – Christians and all salvation seekers have been advised to go extra mile not only to be able to pass through the narrow gate but to arrive at their destinations where they will enjoy everlasting happiness.
The Assistant Parish Priest, St John The Baptist Catholic Church, Agbor, Rev. Fr. Jude Iloba gave the advice while preaching the sermon at a thanksgiving mass to mark his one year anniversary in the priesthood.
He remarked that being a nominal member of the church without contributing to the development of Evangelism or helping those in need will not earn salvation for any Christian, adding that Christians should not only attend church and feel complacent that salvation is sure when they do not contribute to the development of the work of spreading the good news of God.
He warned salvation seekers who attend the church and at the same time visit the native doctors in search of salvation to rethink and retrace their steps as there is no salvation for any who serves God and the devil at the same time.
He further advised those who said the church is a matter of the mind to be careful of their stand as that could lead them into eternal condemnation.
Rev. Fr. Iloba appealed to Christians to be true followers and believers of Jesus Christ by not only attending the church but also supporting the work of God and most importantly helping the needy members of the society.
The clergy man expressed thanks to the Parish Priest, Rt. Rev. Msgnr. Stephen Uzomah for his fatherly role in St. John the Baptist Catholic church, Agbor, particularly in sponsoring his anniversary celebration and ensuring effective administration of the church.
At a civic reception shortly after the mass at the social center, Rev. Fr. Iloba said he was grateful to God for sparing the life of his mother who was seriously sick during the preparation of his Priestly ordination a year ago.
In their separate speeches, the Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Victor Ofili who proposed the toast and the Parish Priest Rev. Msgnr. Stephen Uzomah they described Rev. Fr. Iloba as a humble and hard-working Priest, who does not complain, no matter the volume of work assigned to him.
The occasion was chaired by Chief Hon. Sunny Anumele, assisted by Sir. Bar. J.O. Ojobu while members of Rev. Fr. Iloba’s family from Akumazi Kingdom, including Noble G.O. Ordor as well as cultural dancing group added colour to the reception.
