News has reached Ikaworld that the young woman who was detained at UBTH because she couldn?t pay her bills died today in her family home around Iregwa street Agbor, Orogodo.
According to Mr Ashien the publisher of Ika weekly Newspaper, Miss Nkechi Egbon was released from UBTH yesterday, 17th December 2008, to her parents after the outstanding bills were settled from the donations received.
Based on appeals for help for Miss Egbon published in Ika Weekly Newspaper and Ikaworld.com Ika sons and daughters and the Ika South Local Government council donated generously to Nkechi Egbon which enabled her to be released from UBTH.
A dejected Mr. Ashien told Ikaworld.com, when contacted, that it is heart breaking that Miss Egbon died exactly when a massive fund was injected into her appeal fund. He said that although Miss Egbon was appealing for about two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000) one Mr. Dennis Eboka who is based in the Netherlands sent the sum of two hundred and sixty thousand naira (N260,000) yesterday, 17th of December 2008, into Miss Nkechi Egbon?s account. She was to go to the bank to withdraw the funds today. Mr. Dennis Ebonka?s donation pushed up the total amount donated to more than five hundred thousand naira.
In their reaction to the news of the death of Miss Nkechi Egbon, Mr. and Mrs Dennis Eboka in the Netherlands told Ikaworld.com that they are disheartened and heartbroken about the turn of events. They had hoped that their contribution would produce a positive outcome but it appears God had other plans for her.
