OLD LAGOS-ASABA ROAD PROJECT: Acting Governor Makes Promises… Edwin Clark Lends His Support

Acting Governor of Delta State, Hon Prince Sam Obi has said that  he will ensure that contractors handling the Old Lagos-Asaba Road will be mobilized to site as soon as possible and that work will go on during the day and in the night.               

Speaking to newsmen recently during a wedding ceremony at Agbor, Hon. Sam Obi said that the has sent for the contractor handing the project to discuss ways of completing the work in time. He expressed worries over the present state of the road which has been of great concern to the people of the area.

The Acting Governor who noted that even though his tenure in office is short, he would do something substantial for Deltans to see. He appealed to members of the community to remain calm and never to take the low into their hand by doing what is expected of them, adding that there will be no meaningful development where there is no peace, also stressing that peace is very necessary for greater achievements.

It could be recalled that individuals and different associations have expressed the displeasure through the pages of newspapers and other forms of media concerning the deplorable condition of the Old Lagos-Asaba road over the years. It is the consensus of the people living in the community that the work will be completed in due course.                        

In a related development, the leader of Ijaw ethnic group and Delta Leaders and Stakeholders Forum, Chief Edwin Clerk has  commended the elevation of Hon. Prince Sam Obi as the Acting Governor of the State, saying that he will be given all the necessary support in order to succeed. He stated this during  a meeting that was held at the residence of Amb. Ralph Uwechue, President-General of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo at Ogwashi-Uku. He said that it was because God has a special purpose to fulfil in the life of the Acting Governor, hence his being elevated to that  capacity, regardless of the time frame. He appreciated the work that the Ibo leader is doing to support President Goodluck Jonathan.                  

Also speaking, His Royal Majesty, Solomon Chukwuka 1, the Obi of Ute-okpu who was at the event, also praised the efforts Chief Edwin Clark for his dedication urged him to carry on with the work of fighting for the people and prayed that more individuals in the likes of Edwin Clark will continue to emerge in order to fight for the betterment of the state.
