IKA DEVELOPMENT: KINGSLEY EMU VISIT’S COL. EBOMA

Ika nation, blessed with both human and natural resources is no doubt home to many great gurus of no mean repute in Delta State and Nigeria at large. It has since 1999 proved to the whole state that it is the nucleus of political activities in Delta North, through the ingenuity and prowess of politicians the area has so far produced.

As a way of cementing the unity in Ika land for future challenges, the Honourable Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Asaba, Delta State, Mr. Kingsley Emu, on Sunday 11th December, 2011, visited a renowned Peoples Democratic Party, stalwart in the state, community leader and elder state, man, Col. Godwin Eboma, (rtd) at his country home in Agbor.

The reason for the visit which lasted for more than an hour was to parley with the elder States Man, who before now has been doing his best to ensure that Ika people benefit from government as other ethnic groups in Delta State and Nigeria are doing. The Hon commissioner, who was accompanied on the visit by Mr. Peter Idion and Hon Sunny Ogwu, thanked Col Eboma for his good sportsmanship and his refusal to compromise his integrity over the years. He said having people like Col Eboma as political leaders in Ika nation will really mean well for the political future of the area.

Hon Sunny Ogwu, in his brief statement during the meeting, described Col Ebomah as a great politician who, despite all odds, still sticks to his integrity. He disclosed that they are ready to work with the retired army officer as long as they all have the vision of moving Ika nation forward.

On his part, Mr. Peter Idion, extolled the good and sterling leadership of Col Ebomah, saying he is one of the rare breeds that Ika nation has ever produced. He called on people in the area to support and encourage those people they know have the capacity to deliver if leadership positions are entrusted to them.

Mr. Idion stated that Agbor in particular lack quality leadership and if people like Col. Eboma should team up with the progressives and assumes the needed lacks of leadership in Agbor, Agbor will regain his lost glory. Idion also said he is proud to associate with Col. Eboma because of his vision and interest for Agbor people and Ika in general stating that every Agbor son should emulate his disciple and humble nature.

In response, Col Eboma thanked the Hon commissioner for his visit, saying that the reason why he joined politics is to help better the lives of his people. He stated that though the dream has not yet come to pass, he would always ally with policies and programmes of people who have the good intension of impacting positively on their people.

while describing Ika land as a great nation that has all the wherewithal and capacity to produce a governor of the state in 2015, Col. Eboma expressed optimism that an Ika man if given the needed and necessary support can occupy any top position in Nigeria.
