Politics in Ika land is becoming a do or die affair
with the recent attempt on the life of Mr. Bright Ogbejie, an aluminum dealer
who is a political aid to Hon. Prince Sam Obi, member representing Ika North
East in the Delta State House of Assembly.
Mr. Ogbejie, while narrating his experience to Ika
Weekly said on the 20th of November 2011, said he received a phone
call from a Special Adviser to a powerful politician in Ika land, called Mr.
Hillary threatening to kill him.

defeating his own ward. Mr. Ogbejie noted that some days after the phone call
threat, he was kidnapped and taken to Abudu in Edo State, adding that it was grace
of God that save him two days after.
Mr. Ogbejie also said that his kidnappers revealed
to him that the person who sent for his kidnap was a notable and wealthy person
in the area who he has step on his toes. He said that after he had escaped from
his abductors he reported Mr. Hilary’s threat on his life to Anti Kidnap Squad
Division B in Asaba upon which he was arrested, but was later released on bail
after he (Hilary) said only called him (Ogbejie)
on phone to know why he is challenging him in his ward.
The aluminum dealer maintained that the recent
attempt to kill him was on Sunday 5th February 2011 at a marriage
ceremony at Ute-Okpu when he notice the presence of persons following him and
immediately he ran to Obi of Ute-Okpu Palace, to tell the Obi. Mr. Ogbejie
however, revealed that those whom he recognized as one of those people
following him were Mr. Hilary’s agents, which includes Mr. Cyril and Cypra.
Mr. Ogbejie who gave thanks to God for saving him,
thanked the Anti Kidnap Squad in Asaba, the Obi of Ute-Okpu and his chiefs on
their effort to trap those who want to kill him.
Efforts by Ika weekly to reach
Hilary on phone on the issue were not successful.
