On the 5th
of February, 2012, the death of  our able
musician, pioneer, god Father, leader, Family head Chief Ucheka Eluhike  was broken to the people of Igbanke and Ika
Nation.

With the
death of Ucheka (Aruma) Igbanke and her neighbours has lost one of her voices,
the man who will be counted among the nobles in the music industry.

Ucheka is a
pioneer in Ika music, he started his Sound City Dance Band with the entire
Ehuhieke,s  Family of James, Obika, One–Nigeria,
Victor Nwanbi, later he was joined by the likes of Felix and his brother of the
Ugbekile family, the Eluhike family are from  Omogu  Quarters
in Ake-Igbanke, their father, Chief Eluhike was himself a musician, as a youth
I can still rememer, how he beat his chest to make a melodies music to the
delight of all present.

In the
early 80,s  after he had given teeth his brothers, he left Igbanke to live in Boji
Boji Agbor, along Baleke Street, thereby exposing his music to the bigger world
 and  renamed his group “Ucheka
and his Sound City Original”, he became the talk of the town, in all obituary,
marriage ceremonies and other big functions, the sound of Ucheka never failed.

Some of
Ucheka’s  big hits includes: Eni Special,
Hensmor International, Kpagile, German Benz and many more too numerous to
mention.

As the news
of his death broke out, the entire Igbanke and the Ika Nations were full of sadness
and most showed their sadness in writings. Some are listed below:

Association, a Facebook group wrote the following in memories of Ucheka:

It is with heavy hearts
that the Convener, Board of Directors and the entire members of Igbanke
Progressive Alliance join the whole Igbanke and Ika nation to mourn the loss of
a great musician, a pioneer in Igbanke and Ika Highlife music, a patriotic
Igbanke son and a charismatic musician of our time, Chief Ucheka Eluehike.

We offer our condolences to
the Eluehike family and the entire Igbanke and Ika nation. Chief Ucheka
Eluhike’s demise is a huge loss to Igbanke and his legacy will forever remain
in ourhearts. We pray that God will grant him eternal rest and his family the
strength to bear the sad loss.

Chief Ucheka Eluehike and
his Sound City Original Band inspired many to embrace Igbanke Highlife music. We
pay our respect today to the great and talented Igbanke Highlife musician of all
time and call on our Anioma brothers and sisters to join Igbanke and the Eluehike
family in mourning at this difficult time.

Goody Azzun what a great loss! he is indeed a great legacy of Ika music
trend. He brought Igbanke into the limelight with his voice.Ucheka nwa
Eluehike, omeni wa biazi ozor, ibiazi elu uwa yebiri …….this was one of his
sentimental messages to the deceased!

Emeka Esogbue Unfortunately, the vacuum created by his loss will be hard to
fill. My condolences to all.

that his soul rest in perfect peace

Duke Igbinedion what an irreplaceable loss of our dear musical icon. Though you
are departed, the unsurpassable standard of your music cannot be chiselled out
of the hearts of your admirers. may the Almighty God grant you a peaceful rest.

Smart Adagbon I love ucheka,s  music when I
was in the village. He is a talented musician, I will miss his music, may God
be with his family at this difficult time. R.I.P.
