OLUBOR RENAISSANCE INAUGURATED

OWERRE-OLUBOR (Ika Weekly) – A new association, Olubor Renaissance was on Saturday, inaugurated at Owerre – Olubor in lka North East Local Government Area.

   

The group which comprise of young men of like minds, and who have distinguished themselves in academic and other areas of life was put together to champion the cause of Owerre – Olubor, through organizing seminars, reaching out to prominent sons and daughters of Owerre-Olubor and government to develop the area. 

                

According to the Chairman of the association, Mr. Ehinze S. Ubaka, the body is primarily concerned with the promotion of peace and progress of the community. In his welcome address, Mr. Ehinze Ubaka particularly noted the need for all to join hands together to improve the socio-economic and political fortune of Owerre-Olubor.

                

Mr. Ubaka stated that the association is wholly committed to the initiation of community development programme that will enhance the rapid transformation of the community. He added that the association will encourage educational, economic and socio-cultural activities that will facilitate the development and advancement of Owerre-Olubor. He said that the group will also be involved in a sustained campaign against social vices among the youths in the community, declaring that they will campaign and mobilize the people to support credible men and women whose leadership will ensure the people’s welfare among others.

                

Speaking, the chairman of the occasion, Chief C.N. Onyejebose commended the efforts of the brains behind the formation of the body and advised them to work in line with the aims and objectives of the association, which he said was laudable.

                

In a lecture he delivered at the occasion, Sir. B.S. Osubor noted that the association was coming at the right time, as cases of irresponsible acts among the youths in Olubor was increasing, and enjoined the group to strive to arrest the ugly development.

                

On his own part, another guest lecturer, Dr. B.C. Uweru of Sociology Department, Delta State University, Abraka, observed that the youths are major stakeholders and critical factors of development in any society. He therefore advised them to take up the challenges of developing their community.

                

Those who witnessed the inauguration were the chairman of the occasion, Chief C.N. Onyejebose, Chief O.O. Onyeagwu, Dr. B.C. Uweru,, Sir B.S. Osubor, Vice Principal, Gbenoba Grammar School, Agbor Venerable G.I. Ekpenisi of the Anglican Church, Owerre-Olubor, Mr. Chuks Ashiedu and wife, Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Ikem amongst others.
