SUSPECTED THIEF FOUND IN ECOBANK TOILET

 

Nemesis
caught up with a young man who gave his name as Bakare Olayiwola on Tuesday,
23rd April, 2013 after a failed robbery attempt at the Ecobank branch in
Boji-Boji Owa. The suspected bank thief who hails from Ibadan, Oyo State was
arrested by soldiers in Ika land.

                While confessing before newsmen,
Bakare Olayiwola said, he came, to the bank on Monday 22nd April, 2013 at about
3pm and made straight to the banks toilet where he bore a hole in the ceiling
and hid himself until the bank closed for the day.  He confessed that when staff of the bank had
gone home, he came down from the ceiling and ransacked the banking hall all
through the night but could not find any money. Unfortunately for him, after he
ransacked the whole place and could not find any money, there was no way for
him to get out of the bank.

The hide
out of Olayiwola was made known when a cleaner in the bank who wanted to
clean-up one of the toilets discovered that it was locked from the inside.
After some minutes waiting, so she raised an alarm. Olayiwola who refused to
come out through the door of the toilet went back into the ceiling to see if he
could escape.

                The bank management had to alert
the soldiers who forced the door open and ordered him to come down from the
ceiling. The suspected bank thief family who was unyielding came down after the
soldiers threatened to shoot him. According to the suspected thief, he said, “I
slept in the bank till the following morning. In the morning I went back to the
toilet as there was no way out”.  He
explained that he has no job and no money to take care of himself, that is why
he went into crime.
