NEW SUBSIDY PROGRAMME: IKA NORTH EAST, IKA SOUTH COUNCILS WILL GET N137M

 

The two councils
in Ika Federal constituency, Ika North East Local Government Areas and Ika
South Local Government are to receive the sum of one hundred and thirty-seven
million naira (137m) from the Delta State Government. The money and that of
other twenty three local governments in the state have been approved by the
state government, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for the implementation of the Subsidy
Reinvestment Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) at the grassroot.

          The commissioner, Directorate of
Local Government Affairs, Delta State, Barr Newworld Safugha disclosed the
information at Asaba, even as he advised local government chairmen to
judiciously use the money in the execution of projects in their councils for
the benefit of the people at the grassroot.

         He said the funds are for the months
of May 2012 to January, 2013. The 25 local governments in the state are to
receive a total sum of N 1.693 billion. According to the break down: Aniocha
North Local Government gets N 58 million, Aniocha South N 63 million, Bomadi N
54 million, Burutu N78 million, Ethrope East N 70 million, Ethrope West N 72
million, Ika North East N70 million, Ika South N 67 million, Isoko North N 68
million, Isoko South N76 million.

          Others are: Ndokwa East N 64 million,
Ndokwa West N 64 million, Okpe N 61 million, Oshimili North N 61 million,
Oshimili South N 63 million, Patani, N 54 million, Sapele N 67 million, Udu, N
63 million, Ughelli North, N 90 million and Ughelli South, N 73 million.

          Also in the list are: Ukwuani N 58
million, Uvwie N 67 million, Warri North N 71 million, Warri South N 85 million
and Warri South West N 65 million.
