DSIEC MEMBER, FREDERICK ULAKPA URGED DELTANS TO IMBIBE DEMOCRATIC NORMS

 

The home of Mr.
Fredrick Oduje Ulakpa in Boji-Boji, Owa was agog on Tuesday, 14th May, 2013, as
he was joined by family members and well wishers to celebrate his swearing in
as a member of Delta State Independent Electoral Commissioner, (DSIEC), by the
State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan at the Exco Chambers, Government House
Asaba.

Mr. Ulakpa,
whose appointment was confirmed on 24th of April, 2013, by the State House of
Assembly, was sworn-in alongside other members of the commission, including the
Chairman, Mr. Moses Aloo Ogbe Akpoyoma.

An elated Mr.
Ulakpa, who spoke to newsmen, thanked God for making his appointment possible.
He noted that his appointment was due to his past records of dedication and
commitment to any responsibility given to him. He assured that the commission
would conduct a free and fair local government polls that would be in the
interest of Deltans.

He urged Deltans
to imbibe the culture of democratic norms and take on the responsibility of
seeing and ensuring that the society moves forward.

Mr. Ulakpa, who
hails from Idumuebor Quarters, Owa Alero in Ika North East Local Government
Area, is a retired Acting Director, Delta State Local Government Service
Commission, Asaba.

Speaking on
behalf of the family, Mr. Ukachukwu Cletus Okwuoma said that the appointment of
his Uncle was well deserved, adding that the new DSIEC member, having worked in
higher capacity in the unified Local Government Service, is better equipped to
add value to the assignment of the commission.

He prayed God to
give Mr. Ulakpa the wisdom and strength to carry out his responsibility, in
helping to conduct credible local government election in the state.

The gathering
was later treated to a sumptuous meal. Many of the guests who spoke expressed
satisfaction with the appointment of Mr. Ulakpa as a member of DSIEC.
