FREE EYE CARE:AGBOR COMMUNITY COMMENDS NGO

 

Agbor Community
under the leadership of Major-General Nick Agbogun, rtd, has commended a
non-governmental organization, Fountain of Joy and Comfort Foundation for the
five days free medical eye service organized for people in Agbor.

The apex Agbor
association which spoke through its secretary general, Hon. M.N. Odiase, said
the entire people of Agbor are thankful to the foundation for the five days
free medical eye service offered freely to the people of the community. Hon.
Odiase said Agbor Community was also very pleased with the good conduct of the
medical team of the foundation, saying that the medical experts put up smiling
faces all through the period of the exercise and also played by the rules of
their profession by giving equal treatment to everybody irrespective of class.

He disclosed that
during the free medical exercise, Agbor Community provided about five hundred
chairs, fifty tables, canopies, electricity, security and other logistics,  which 
made the exercise to be a huge success.

While thanking
the Dein of Agbor, His Royal Majesty Keagborekwuzi 1 for his royal support, Hon
Odiase on behalf of Agbor Community thanked the chairman, Ika South Local
Government Area, Engr. Andrew Obiazi for the financial support from the
council, promising that the umbrella Agbor group will continue to live up to
expectations since the Agbor royal monarch has told its leadership to always
take responsibility.

The media
officer of the foundation, Mr. Frank Okwedadi expressed gratitude to the Dein
of Agbor, Agbor Community, and the palace chiefs, asserting that without their
help, the exercise would not have been successful.

 He disclosed that over one thousand five
hundred (1500) persons benefitted from the free medical exercise.

He revealed that
one hundred and twenty nine surgeries which involved cataract and other eye
diseases were carried out. He said outside the surgeries, free eye examination,
glasses, and drugs were given to patients.

He further
disclosed that during the exercise full blindness was restored to clear sight
and that a woman who was already prepared to undergo an eye surgery in Lagos at
the sum of N550,000 was treated freely during the exercise by their medical
team.

Fountain of Joy
and Comfort Foundation was established about two years ago by an Ika born
philanthropist who does not want his name mentioned to cater for the health
needs of people in Ika land, Anioma area, Abuja and Imo State. About fourty
doctors, including Optometrics, Laboratory Scientists, Orthormologists, Medical
Laboratory Scientists, Nurses, Pharmacists, and Consultants were among the team
members.
