ALIHAME WINS 2013, IHU-IYASE FOOTBALL COMPETITION

            Alihame community on Tuesday,
December, 31, 2013 at Agwaweuru Secondary School, Ewuru in Ika South, won the
2013, Ihu-Iyase football competition hosted by Brigadier General Lucky Ewonye
Irabor.

            The competition which kicked off on
December, 9, 2013, featured the nine communities in Ihu-Iysae which include:
Alihame, Aliokpu, Aliagwa, Agbor-Nta, Oki, Ewuru, Idumu-Oza, Alihagwu and
Alifekede. Ewuru community took the third position by wining Oki community by
2-1.    

            The final match was between Alihame
and Aliokpu and Alihame  community won
with a lone goal that was scored by Okubor Andrew aka Egulemu in the first
thirty-five (35) minutes of play.

            Climax of the event was the
presentation of trophy and cash prizes to the first three teams that emerged
winners. The first prizes went to Alihame community with a golden cup, medals
and the sum of one hundred thousand naira (N100,000), the second prize went
to  Aliokpu community with medals and the
sum of sixty-thousand naira (N60,000) and the third prize was given to Ewuru
community, with medals and the sum of fourt-thousand naira (N40,000).

            Speaking with newsmen, the sponsor,
Brigadier General Irabor who is a native of Aliokpu, said that the essence of
the competition is to engage the youths, and make them focus and to do things
to ensure that their God given talent is discovered and utilized.

            According to him “To make our youths
to discover and develop their God given potentials and to create unity among
the Ihu-Iyase communities, for them to shun acts capable of causing rancour in
the society.”

            He congratulated the winners of the
competition, charging the youths to stay away from crime and always keep within
the confines of the law, adding that they should not give up in the pursuit of
their dreams, rather that they should leave a godly life that the future holds
great things in store for them. Mr. Philip Adede, on behalf of Ihu-Iyase
community lauded the efforts of the host, Brigadier General, Irabor and also
thanked all those who made the competition a success. He also charge Ihu-Iyase
sons and daughters to emulate such good gesture that will positively impact the
community and country at large.
