UMUNEDE INDIGENE IN ABROAD DONATES SCHOOL DESK

 

An illustrious son of Umunede Kingdom
based in Germany, Mr. Dickson Utuke on Monday 20th January, 2014 through Nzuko
Ndigbo Ruhrgeblet Association that he belongs in Germany donated twenty-nine
school desks to Ogbe Primary School, Umunede in Ika North east local government
area. Mr. Utuke was an old student of the school.

            Speaking,
the donor stated that he is very happy that through his group he has reached
out to the needs of the school he started studies as a child.

            According
to him, “No doubt the desks will go a long way in enhancing effective teaching
and learning in the school. The desks will take three to four pupils,” he
stated.

            On
his part, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Ezeagwu Ezewali Agadagidi 1 (JP), the Obi of
Umunede who received the desk and commissioned it, thanked Mr. Utuke for his
effort in ensuring that Umunede people benefits from him. According him,
“people of Umunede are happy and proud to have you as a son of the land. He
expressed appreciation to members of Nzuko Ndigbo in Germany, Praying God to
bless them.

            The
Obi of Umunede enjoined parents present at the event to encourage their
children living abroad to have a heart of reaching out to their people as
exemplified by Utuke rather than coming home with ear rings and drive cars
around the community without the people feeling their impact.

            In
response, the school head, Gloria Okoh, representative of Local Education
Authority, Owa-Oyibu, Mary Ebonka, representative of Chief Inspector of
education, Ika Northeast local government area, Solomon Ibiri, Nigeria Union of
Teachers, Ika Northeast chapter Chairman, Augustine Egbede and others
appreciated the donor for  his
humanitarian service and for remembering the school for good.

            High
point of the event was the conferment of chieftaincy title on the donor and two
of his friends.
