COURT GRANTS ABAVO MONARCH BAIL

 

The traditional
ruler of Abavo kingdom, His Royal Majesty Uche Irenuma II, who was arrested on
the 3rd of February, 2014 by the police, Delta State command has been granted
bail. He was granted bail on Thursday, March 27, on the sum of N2million and
two sureties who must be a civil servant and a landed property owner within
Asaba.

                Obi Uche Irenuma II was
arraigned by the Delta State police over 16 count charges leveled against him.
One of the conditions for his bail according to his counsel, Barr. J.K.Agholor
was to enable him seek medical treatment.

                “We all know that no prison in
Nigeria has the facilities to treat patients and because of the gross violation
of the Obi fundamental right.,we approach the court and the bail was filed by
J.K Agholor Associates to the honourable chief Judge of the State. The bail
application was taken on the 19th February, and it was delivered today,
Thursday, by Hon Justice Emefonrye,” the defense counsel stated.

                He disclosed that  the court agreed with his client 36 paragraph
affidavit in granting the Obi bail, pointing out that the judiciary has again
proved that it the only hope for the common man.

                “We are grateful to the
judiciary for not bowing to any pressure or threat in the matter” Bar Agholor
stated.

                He used the opportunity to
appeal to all and sundry to a lay down their arms adding that Abavo kingdom is
one of the most peaceful, industrious and respected kingdoms in Ika land. He
advised them to shun personal interest which is aimed at setting the kingdom
apart and embrace peace.
