ONU IKA SET UP PROJECT MONITORING COMMITTEE

AGBOR  (Ika Weekly) – Onu Ika Nigeria, socio-cultural, economic and political mouth piece of Ika nation says it has set up a project monitoring committee to ensure the speedy execution and completion of all on-going projects in Ika land.
                            

The committee, which is expected to play advisory role in respect of all on-going projects in Ika land has been mandated to compile list of all abandoned, partially completed and those under construction in the area with a view of playing intermediary role between the government that awarded the contract for the project and the contractors handling the projects.

                            

Disclosing this, during a quarterly meeting of Onu Ika Nigeria held at Agbor on Saturday the president of the collective leadership of Onu Ika, Sir, S.P.O. Fortune Ebie said the project monitoring is part of the strategic development plan (SPD) embarked upon by the body, adding that unless the body collates all projects on ground, it would not be possible to know what is required for every particular area of Ika nation.

                            

Sir Ebie said the names of members of the committee has to remain in camera for now, in view of the sensitive nature of the assignment they are to handle

                            

The head of the collective leadership said the duty of the committee is not to probe anybody or any level of Government but to find out the area of assistance Onu Ika can give to ensure that all projects embarked upon in Ika land were executed to specification for the benefit of the people.

                            

Onu Ika Nigeria praised the efforts of the Federal  Government for awarding the contract  for dredging of Orogodo river in Boji-Boji metropolis and appealed to ensure that the job was thoroughly  executed in view of the hardship the people have suffered.

                            

The body decried the absence of library in nine kingdoms out of the eleven kingdoms of Ika nation and called for rehabilitation of the Agbor and Owa-Oyibu libraries to make them conducive for learning.

                            

While calling for the establishment of Ika nation Library Onu Ika, frowned at the continued occupation of Ika National Hall by a detachment of the mobile Policemen, adding the academic and social activities in Ika Land have been greatly disrupted by the location of mobile policemen in the hall, as it called on the authorities to look for a more conducive accommodation for the mobile policemen posted to the area.
