What I want to offer the people of Ika-South – Imudia

May we meet you? Well, I am Mr. Andy  Emegha  Imudia, a native of Alisimie, in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State. I was born on October 17, 1970. I attended Charles Burr Primary School and Ika Grammar School both in Agbor. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Bendel State University (now Ambrose Alli University) Ekpoma.

Since then, what have you been doing? That is, your job experience?

My job experience span through the Nigeria Immigration, Enugu State Command where I did my  National Youth Service Corp Programme after which I joined SCOA Nig. Plc where I rose to the position of Sales Manager at TRAC Division. I later moved to J.C.B Equipments Ltd where I am presently a director.

In addition to these, I am a well travelled man, I have attended business, administrative and developmental workshops and conferences.

You are an aspirant to the Chairmanship of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), what have you to offer the people of the local government supposing you get your party’s nomination?

To start with, in line with the three-point agenda of the present administration in the state, I intend to make judicious application of resources for, first and foremost, infrastructural development of the local government especially in the area of  regular maintenance of roads. You are familiar with the increasingly deplorable position of the roads throughout  the local government, not just the local government headquartres.

If I get my party’s nomination and I am eventually elected, we shall work and liaise with the state government to open rural areas of the local government through construction of new roads where possible and rehabilitation of existing ones. Public water supply is another area where I intend to focus my attention on if I am elected.

There is no doubt that public water supply in the local government needs improvement. The same in public power supply.

Second area is industrial development. The abundant mineral resources throughout Ika South Local Government  land would be developed to move the local government area to a higher industrial pedestal and attract foreign investors.

On socio-economic development, if I am given the mandate, we shall pursue and ensure total overhaul of the government educational system to meet modern and global educational standards. We shall focus on employment opportunities for the unemployed youths as well as women empowerment programmes.

In the area of health, in line with the other adage which says health is wealth, we intend to give top priority to the issue of healthcare delivery in the local government.

If elected, we would improve on healthcare delivery system zeroing in on repairs, renovation and reconstruction of government healthcare centres and clinics in Ika South Local Government Area.

Similarly, the issue of sanitation would be given a pride of place under my administration if given the mandate. You know that erosion is a major problem in the local government, we intend to liaise with both the federal and state governments in this regards.

Besides that, there will be a comprehensive master plan for waste management in order to promote healthy living amongst our people.

On the issue of security, in view of the enormous role played by the traditional institutions in the attainment of peace and progress of any community, traditional rulers in Ika South will be carried along in the scheme of things in order to create a favourable atmosphere that will promote sustainable socio-economic development of the local government.

Also, my administration will effectively partner with various law enforcement agencies like the police, state security service and the National Security and Civil Defence Corps to ensure that the local government area is crime-free.
