Iwerebor agrees to step down as PDP chairman

BOJI BOJI, OWA (Ikaworld.com) – As members of Ika North East PDP await the official primaries of the party, facts have emerged that Chief Iwerebor the PDP Chairman, Ika North East had agreed to step down as chairman as soon as his son, Mr. Festus Iwerebor, is officially adopted in during the party’s primary.

Although it was widely reported that all PDP aspirants for the Ika North East Chairmanship position had agreed to front Mr. Festus Iwerebor as the party’s sole candidate, nothing was mentioned about a clause in the agreement requiring Chief Humphrey Iwerebor to step down as the party’s chairman. This agreement was a result of the intrigue and negotiation that led to the emergence of Festus Iwerebor as the potential sole Ika North east Local Government chairmanship aspirant for the PDP. The understanding was that Chief Iwerebor cannot remain as the Chairman of Ika North East PDP while his son, Mr. Festus Iwerebor, becomes the chairman of Ika North East which he is certain to win when fronted, considering the PDP mechinery in Ika North East.

Some Ika political analysts told Ikaworld reporter that although the agreement has not been made public since the primary is yet to hold and since anything can happen before then, agreeing to step down shows a deal of political maturity on the part of Chief Humphrey Iwerebor and presents him as a political realist.
