PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO UMUNEDE MONARCH

The Progressive League, a socio-political group based in Umunede in Ika North East Local Government Area recently paid a courtesy visit to the Obi of Umunede kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Agadagidi Ezeagwu Ezenwali 1, JP.

Speaking at the place, Barr. C.S. Ebite, the General Secretary of the the group told the Royal father that they were in the palace to intimate him of the existence and modus operandi of the organization, and to also receive royal blessings from him. He explained that the group is not a political party but a pressive group working for the good of the community.

He stated that one of their priorities is to help educate the people so as to come to political limelight. "After all, no one is an island of his own, we need each other to succeed in life" he noted. He pointed out that the condition of Umunede Community is not politically and infrastructurally encouraging.

Also speaking, the president of the group, Barr. M.C. Okorie said they were out to sensitize the people and influence the government to attract certain developmental projects to Umunede.

Responding, Obi Agadagidi charged the group to carry out their activities with a high sense of responsibility and discipline. He urged them to help checkmate the activities of the youths in the land, saying that some youths have usurped authority and are going beyond their bounds as a result of ignorance. He told the members of the body that since they are stakeholders in the progress of Umunede Community, they should take it upon themselves to invite at least two youths from each quarter to have a round table talk and partner with them for the progress of Umunede.

The Monarch equally mandated the group to call on school teachers in the land to be committed to their duties instead of leaving school for farm and marker during school hours, with the excuse that they have not been paid their salaries. The Obi thanked the group and prayed for them to be successful in their endeavours.

The executive members that went on the visit include, Barr. M.C. Okorie President, Mr. Mike Omiefe, Barr. C.S. Ebite, Mr. Ifeanyi Iduh, Mr. S.N. Okorie, Mr. Linus Bienose, Mr. E.I. Okoh, Hon Alex Mekunye, Mr. Boniface Osafile, Mr. Friday Okoh and Mr. Abel Adagbon.
