settlement of the quarrel between them, Mr. Samuel was said to have gone to the
house of Mr. Adim some time later to settle more scores with him.At
Mr. Adim’s place the father of the house
was not at home. Only his wife and the child were there to receive Mr. Samuel.
It was alleged that after asking of her husband’s whereabouts, he announced
that he ha brought a machete to kill the baby. Immediately after the announcement,
it was alleged that Mr. Samuel descended on the baby and began to inflict
machete cuts on her. The baby was quickly taken to a nearby clinic where it was
confirmed death. The source further revealed that after the incident, Mr. Sam
quickly ran to his brother in Benin-City, Edo State, where he was later brought
back to Ute-Ogbeje and handed over to the police.
The
mother of the murdered baby, Mrs. Faith Adim Nwasiwe, expressed shock over the
death of her child, saying that she was finding it very difficult to bear it.
The father of the suspect, Mr. Nwafor Fada expressed sadness over the
incidence. He said that he is not a party to such criminal act. He appealed to
the Adim’s family to tamper justice with mercy and prayed God to give them the
fortitude to bear the loss.
The
suspect, Samuel Fada it was alleged, has been known to have used machetes on
other persons in the community whenever he had a dispute with anyone, and that
not less than seven individuals have had such experience with him.Meanwhile
the body of the little child has been deposited in a mortuary while
investigations into the matter continued.
