Tribune: Supreme Court reinstates sacked fmr. Delta Speaker Martin Okonta

The Supreme Court on Monday ordered the reinstatement of the sacked Delta State Speaker, Mr Martin Okonta, who was sacked by the decision of an appeal court.
Okonta had gone to the apex court seeking a review of the verdict of a court of appeal, Abuja division, which nullified his election.
The appellate court earlier in its judgment held that Okonta was not the duly nominated candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in the 2007 elections.
It then ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to his opponent, Kingsley Nonye Philip, as the representative of Ika South Constituency.
However, the apex court, set aside the judgment of the appeal court, which upheld the decision of the federal high court that nullified Okonta’s election.
