y (P.D.P) members in Ika North East Local Government
Area, Delta State of Nigeria and we write this letter upon their instruction
and behalf. W shall hereinafter refer to them as “our clients”.
This Chambers
having firm and full instruction of our clients who are predominating
accredited members of People Democratic Party (P.D.P) no doubt we happy when
party primaries guide lines were published for the purpose of conducting free
and fair party primaries election in line with one man one vote
Shortly before
the guideline was published in various national newspaper, Ika North East had
various aspirants to include Mr. Victor Odiase, Barr. F.I. Eborka, Hon. Dada
Ijeh, Mr. David Anuku Rt. Hon. Sam Obi and amongst others in the race of Delta
State House of Assembly.
However, as this
primaries were been awaited, court of Appeal sitting at Benin Division nullify the election of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan
as the Governor of Delta State. This off course saw the emergence of Rt. Hon.
Sam Obi, Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly as Acting Governor of Delta
State in line with court of Appeal decision.
The emergence of
Rt. Hon. Sam Obi as Acting Governor of Delta State saw fragrant abuse of
office, official corruption to the extend that aspirant to Delta State house of
Assembly to the exclusion of Mr. Victor Odiase were induced to step down for
Rt. Hon. Sam Obi. Dada Ijeh was appointed S.A to the Acting Governor Rt. Hon.
Sam Obi (as he then wa).
Inspite of
various forms of inducement by Rt. Hon. Sam Obi Acting Governor (as he then was) Mr. Victor Odiase opted to
contest the primaries with Rt. Hon. Sam Obi. The said House of Assembly
primaries was characterized with
intimidation, oppression, suppression, inhumanity to man and use of
security operatives under the instruction of Rt. Hon. Sam Obi to chase credible
delegates voters out of the voting venue. Our clients who are credible
accredited delegated were chased out of
the venue on the instruction of Rt. Hon. Sam Obi with a view of
manipulating the votes in his favour particularly when the authentic delegates
list was not used for the primaries.
No doubt, this
he did by paying every delegated that consented to vote for him between N20,000.00 to N50,000.00 and some bags
of rice. This action of Rt. Hon. Sam Obi negated the principle of justice
equity and good conscience as it relates to free and fair election and
particularly one man one vote.
According, having shown enormous facts how Rt. Hon. Sam
Obi Acting Governor (as he then was) abused his office bribe and gratify some
aspirants including some delegates and oppressed, suppressed and intimidated
aspirants who rejects his offer, we are honesty calling for the total
conciliation of the purported House of Assembly primaries declaring Rt. Hon.
Sam Obi winner. Retaining him as the winner will spell doom for P.D.P in forth
coming election. Our clients who fundamental human rights to vote has been
violated shall consider the option of litigation if this petition is not giving
urgent attention.
