The Ika North East Council boss, Hon. Barr. Victor Ebonka and the Federal Road Safety Commander, Agbor Unit, YD Bitrus have cautioned motorists to avoid driving against the traffic and observe all traffic rules on the highway this season; the ember months

Addressing the Ika North East council staff on Monday, October 22, 2018, Commander Bitrus warned motorists against over speeding and one way driving which he said have resulted to several crashes causing loss of lives and properties.

According to him, “Road accidents are caused by human errors, motorists should always drive within the speed limit, put on the safety belt, avoid wrong overtaking, use of expired tyres and overloading of goods and passengers.

Most of the road crashes are recorded during the ember months not because the months are bad but because most drivers violate traffic rules. We are carrying out this campaign to ensure that road users are cautioned and obey traffic rules in order to save their lives and those of the passengers”.

He revealed that anyone caught driving one way will be apprehended and taken to Central Hospital Agbor for mental check up and if mentally balanced, will face mobile court for sanction. Commander Bitrus enjoined the good people of Ika nation to obey traffic rules, saying that it will not take anything from them, but rather save them from road accident which may claim their lives. ead also:CHRISTMAS MOVEMENTS AND THE STATE OF FEDERAL ROADS- OMILO
