AKWETE, IKA HIGHLIFE KING SHOT BY SUSPECTED CULTISTS

The popular Ika highlife musician, Chief Ifeanyi Akwete Uwayah was, on Wednesday 7th March 2012, shot in the leg at his permanent residence located at No. 1 Chief Akwete Street, Ime-Obi, Agbor. The incident took place in front of his compound by suspected cultists.

Narrating the ugly incident to newsmen, Chief Ifeanyi Akwete Uwayah said that it was at about 6:25pm of the day, while relaxing with his wife in his compound, suddenly a group of twenty hefty boys dressed in black cloths on bikes arrived at his residence. Three out of the group was coming close to him and others surrounded the compound.

He noted that one of them asked him to show him Chuka who had shot at their compound earlier and ran into his compound. He replied that he doesn’t know anybody called Chuka and that no son of his bears such name and instantly bullets were fired into his leg and the other gunmen also leased bullets into the air. Before a twinkle of an eye, they all disappeared into thin air

According to him, "I don’t know any of them as most of them covered their faces with veil but my greatest joy is that I am still alive and I want all my fans across the nation to help me thank God for the preservation of my life".

As at the time of filling this report, the case has been reported to Agbor Police and investigation is on top gear to bring the culprits to book.

Report reaching us states that the people shot by the same gang of armed men on that same day are numbered up to three.
