ABAVO SAGA CONTINUES: Obi of Abavo hires fiery Lagos legal practitioner Festus Keyamo

In an apparent move to stop the scheming of those bent on destabilizing the peace and sense of unity in Abavo kingdom, in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, through calling for the removal of the king, His Royal Majesty, Uche Irenuma II, the Palace has secured the services of the celebrated human rights lawyer, Festus Keyamo.

The fiery Lagos legal practitioner in company of his legal team were at the palace of the Obi of Abavo, during the week, where they met with the royal family and council of chiefs amongst whom were Chief (Dr.) Ifeanyi Ehijene, High Chief Isioma Okonta and Chief Agbaje Osemeha among others.

Festus  Keyamo wondered why somebody who had sat on a throne for well over a decade could be accused of usurpation of position and authority.

According to him, the summary of the case is that some persons after so many years, are raising the issue of paternity and legality on the Abavo throne, which does not carry any weight. The father of the present Obi was installed in 1991 and died in 1998. His son was installed after fulfilling all traditional rites and legal obligations. For some persons to come from nowhere to say the late Obi was not supposed to be the Obi because he was not the first male child of the grand father of the current Obi and should not have been installed and by implication, Obi Irenuma II should not actually be sitting on the throne does not make any sense

Barr. Keyamo said that at a first glance at the issue, it does appear like a joke, why is it a joke? He queried, rhetorically It is a joke because this is something that happened more than 20 years ago, and people had to wait this long to start questioning the position of things and raising unnecessary dust.

He observed that, the late Obi reigned successfully and died, his son was installed, and has been reigning for 14 years, and you wake up from a deep slumber and you shake your head, look around and said this one l am seeing is not the right person to be on the throne. It appears like African magic at first glance. It does not appear as a serious case. For me it is just a huge joke

While assuring the people of Abavo kingdom of the peaceful resolution of the matter, which he said would end in favour of the Obi, Barr. Keyamo promised to meet the other party in court with every means at his disposal to prosecute a successful case. We believe there is nothing to worry about, he said.
