Agbor Opinion Social League, a social
cultural group, whose membership is made up of Agbor indigenes who are
graduates has reiterated its commitment to the development of Agbor. The group
which played host to one of the illustrious sons of Ika nation, Barr. Felix
Morka on Sunday last week at Asaba, said that their major aim is to promote
Agbor agenda.
According
to the group, the development of Agbor remain their number one priority, hence,
they are doing everything they can to ensure that Agbor does not suffer any
setback again, disclosing that part of their plans is to make sure that failed
politicians in the area will not trade with the people again in subsequent
elections. They pledged to rally round any of their members of Agbor indigene
who genuinely has the intension to vie for a political office.
Barr.
Morka who was in Asaba to inform the leadership and members of Agbor Opinion of
his intention to engage in politics lauded the group for coming together to
chart a way forward for their community. He demeaned the high level of poverty
in Ika federal constituency which according to him was as a result of the
nonchalant attitude of those representing the people in government to the
peoples plight.
Dr.
Morka said his desire to contribute on more to nation building informed the reason
why he has decided to vie for political office come 2015, adding that as a
human right activist he will not fold his hands while the Nigeria democracy is
being hijacked by political gladiators who are only concerned about themselves,
friends and family members.
While
thanking Agbor Opinion and other stakeholders in Agbor for keeping hope alive,
Barr. Morka called on the people to wake up to their responsibility by saying
no to injustice and misrule. He said the time has come for the people to air their
views out and make the government to be accountable to them.
However,
the chairman, Agbor Opinion, Dr. Cletus Otene, on behalf of the group thanked
Barr. Morka for the visit, disclosing that the group remains committed to Agbor
course.
