AKUMAZI DEDICATES NEW CHURCH

 

It was all celebration 
as St. Joseph Catholic Church Akumazi Umuocha in Ika North East Local
Government Area of Delta State, dedicated their 
new church on the 9th of June 2013.

                The
celebration which was graced by eminent personalities across the state, friends
and well wishers from all works of life was described as  best 
among equals.

                The
construction of the church building started in 2009 under the leadership of
Rev. Fr. Anthony Dibie.

                Speaking
during the occasion his Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Odogwu Elue thanked the
people for coming to celebrate with them saying that St. Joseph Akumazi has now
become one of the famous parishes in the diocese that is known for great
achievement.

                He
thanked the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Anthony Dibie, his assistant, Rev. Fr.
Godfrey Okwunka, and the entire parishioners of St. Joseph for work well done.

                Most
Rev. Elue further stated that the dedication of the new church is like a new
beginning and  that God uses His people
to accomplish His purpose. According to him, the works of God are wonderful. He
prayed God to bless and build for all those that contributed positively to the
completion of the new church.

                The
keys to the new church building was officially given to the parish priest Rev.
Fr. Dibie by his Lordship Most Rev. Elue whose commendation was inspiring.

                In his
words of appreciation, the parish priest Rev. Fr. Dibie on behalf of his
assistant Rev. Fr. Okwunka, and the entire parishioner of the church thanked
the bishop, monsignors, Rev. Fathers, Rev. Sisters, friends, and the  wonderful people of Akumazi and its environs
for coming to celebrate with them. He expressed his gratitude to all those who
in one way the another gave their contributions to the building of the edifice.

                He
prayed God to reward and protect them as they go back to their various
destinations.

                Speaking
to Ika Weekly shortly after the celebration, the chairman of the project
committee, Mr. Ejinewebi Vincent (Ezinna) expressed satisfaction towards the
success of the ceremony, saying that it is one of his happiest days

                He
noted that the journey which started with a step has now become a reality,
praying God to bless all that made it a success.

                High
point of the ceremony was the anointing of the altar and the walls of the church
which symbolizes Christ and His image with the lighting of candles on the altar
which represents Christ as the light of the world.

                In the
same vein, the inauguration of the blessed tabernacle was also accomplished.
