Obasanjo arrives Alifekede

At a boundary reception held in his honour at Alifekede, the boundary town between Edo and Delta State dignitaries from within and outside the State trooped out enmasse to receive the President. President Olusegun Obasanjo arrived Alifekede with the State Governor, Chief James Ibori, after he was received at the Benin Airport. Clad in the traditional Anioma attire Chief Obasanjo inspected the guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the Nigeria Army and the Navy.

Escorted by the State Governor Chief Ibori, his wife Nkoyo and the Deputy Governor, Chief Benjamin Elue, President Obasanjo was introduced to dignitaries from the State. They include Senators, members of the House of Representatives Speaker and members of the State House of Assembly, Commissioners, Secretary to the State Government, party leaders. Local Government Chairmen traditional rulers, and other dignitaries.

The President took time out to chart with the members of the National Youth Service Corps posted to the State who also came out to honour him. Thereafter he went round each of the Canopies Waving and exchanging greetings with Deltans that took time out of their Schedule to welcome him. President Obasanjo is accompanied on the visit by the Minister for Police Affairs, Minister for Works, Minister of State for Defence and the Chairman of PDP Board of Trustee and his Special Assistants among others.

Commenting on the visit, the Obi of Owa, Obi Efezomor the second described the visit as timely and said Deltans are expecting a pronouncement that will bring fortune and happiness to the people of the State. The Dein of Agbor Kingdom, Kiagborekuzi the first, said Delta State has a special relationship with the president.
