The family of Boi Okorie resident at 18, Ibeh Street Alihagu in Ika South Local Government Area has been thrown into deep mourning following the gruesome murder of their twenty-two-year old son, Master Jude Boi.

According to the father of the young man, Mr. Okorie Boi, who is a transporter by profession, he came back from work in the evening of Wednesday, August 17, 2011, and at about 7:00pm, he was taking his evening meal, when one of his children ran into the house, saying that his brother has been shot. Mr. Okorie said that he quickly left the food he was eating and went to the scene of the incident. He stated that it was only a few minutes ago that his son went out of the house, to go and buy something. It was on his way back home that a group of boys met him. As he passed by them, they called his name. It was gathered that as the young man turned to see those who called him he was shot at by someone within the group.

He stated that he met his son lying on ground. He said that as the young man was being helped to the hospital he gave his father some names of those who he could recognize among the group that accosted him that night. Mr. Okorie Boi said that his son was rushed to the emergency section of the Central Hospital, Agbor, and that it was while they were collecting a hospital card for Master Jude Boi treatment that he finally gave up the ghost. He stated that the matter was immediately reported to the police in Agbor, and that when the police got to the family houses of the boys whom his son mentioned their names as the ones who shot at him, they took to their heels as soon as they saw the police. Some of their relative were said to have been taken to the police station to assist in investigating the matter.

Mr. Boi who said that his late son is the forth among his children, said that Jude was a peace loving gentle boy who did not keep too many friends. He called on the police to investigate thoroughly, the circumstances that led to the death of his son, adding that he is yet to know the fate of those who took part in killing his son.

As at the time of filing this report, the corpse of Mr. Jude Boi has been deposited at the Central Hospital morgue, while investigations into the matter continue.
