IKA WEEKLY – The children of Elder James Uguru of Ile quarters, Umunede in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, on the 27th December, 2010, gave free medicated glasses to people of the community after testing and treatment.
The total numbers of beneficiaries of the medicated eyes glasses are one hundred. While others cases do not require medicated eyes glasses.
According to Dr. Ugu Ikenna, one of the invited Doctors from Central Hospital Agbor, who is an optometrist, ignorance and poverty have been the major problem of thepeople. That is why they are not doing the right thing at the right time�.
He advised them to eat good food and fruits always as part of their diet, which will make them to be healthy always.
The medical practitioners equally advised the gathering to visit hospitals and clinics as soon as possible for test and advise from professionals, not until problems start knocking at the door.
Also speaking, the eldest son of Elder James Uguru, Prof. M.I. Uguru, while answering question from our reporter, said their decision to give eye treatment to the people of the area is their responsibilities. He said that God has blessed his family and assured that the same blessing should be extended to others.
In the same , vein Dr. Chuks Uguru, another son of the family expressed delight to God for making them whom they are. He said that God loves the world and gave the whole world His only son, and that they have to show the same example by giving to others, especially the less privileged ones.
He said such privilege is a way of extending love to people around them. He advised others to always share with from what God has given them in their little way too.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Rose Acha thanked Uguru family for such kind gesture, asking the good God to continue to reward them bountifully.
