Encomiums as Mabatah Donates to Emuhu Secondary School

The students and staff of Emuhu Secondary School in the Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State received much-needed support from Dr. and Mrs. Gabriel Mbadiwe Mabatah through the MGF Foundation. They donated a new six-unit water system toilet facility, complete with a water borehole powered by solar energy and a generator, along with CCTV surveillance cameras.
The project, which received widespread praise, was commissioned by the Honourable Commissioner for Secondary Education in Delta State, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, on Thursday, July 24, 2025. The event was well-attended by community elders, stakeholders, and supporters of progress.
In his welcome address, the Principal of Emuhu Secondary School, Mr. Jerry Brown-Onyeator, disclosed that the project has brought immense relief to the students and staff by addressing fundamental hygiene and health needs. He stated, “The water borehole will provide a reliable source of clean water, improving hygiene practices and reducing the risk of waterborne illnesses. The modern toilet facilities will greatly enhance the learning environment by offering a clean and private space for defecation, thereby promoting dignity and health.”
Mr. Onyeator assured attendees of the proper maintenance of the project, describing the Mabatahs’ generosity as a demonstration of their love and commitment to the growth and development of the Emuhu community, despite living far from home.
Like Oliver Twist asking for more, the school principal used the opportunity to appeal to the illustrious sons and daughters of Emuhu to assist the school. He highlighted pressing needs, such as fencing the school compound, constructing an administrative block, and providing a lawn mower for maintaining the school grounds. He expressed deep appreciation to Dr. and Mrs. Mabatah, stating that their contributions will have a lasting positive impact on the school.
On her part, Mrs. Ezewu, who was represented by the Chief Inspector of Education for Ika South LGA, Mr. Idume Enahoro, remarked that the Mabatahs have performed a noble deed with their donations, noting that education extends beyond the classroom. Effective learning requires a conducive environment for healthy living, which includes access to proper sanitation.

“Indeed, the donors have not only demonstrated commendable generosity, but they have also contributed directly to the health, dignity, and well-being of the students and staff of Emuhu Secondary School. We are sincerely inspired by the fact that this donation came from an individual, which proves that everyone has a role to play in nation-building; the government cannot do it alone.
“The Mabatahs’ kindness also reminds us that when individuals, communities, and the government work together, we can achieve great things. To the management and students of Emuhu Secondary School, I urge you to make good use of the facilities by maintaining and protecting them. I also urge the Emuhu community, especially the youth, to guard them jealously.
“To Dr. and Mrs. Mabatah, may your kindness inspire others to support the education sector. In all, you have sown a seed that will yield fruit for generations. Thank you and congratulations on this laudable achievement for humanity,” he emphasised.
Responding in their goodwill messages, Mrs. Rosemary Kwubasu and Eustace Eluroma, Secretary of the Pathfinders Club of Emuhu, expressed their gratitude to the Mabatahs for giving back to their community. They stated that it takes a person with a truly charitable heart to undertake such significant financial projects.
In an interview, the project engineer, Chukwuka Onyibe, Director of Chimat Engineering Limited, praised the Mabatahs and affirmed that the project was delivered according to the specifications for a six-unit water system toilet facility with a water borehole powered by solar energy and a generator, complete with CCTV surveillance cameras.
In conclusion, Hon. Uche Ujeboh, the Emuhu-born African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Assembly candidate for Ika South LGA, described the Mabatahs’ kindness to the Emuhu community as exemplary and worthy of emulation to move their community forward.
