NEWLY ELECTED IKA SOUTH VIGILANTE EXECUTIVE SWORN-IN, PLEGE COMMITMENT TO DUTY

 

Executive members of Ika South
Vigilante Group who were elected on the 20th August, 2013 have sworn to be
committed to duty and make sure that criminals in the local government area are
flushed out.

                The
members made the pledge during their swearing-in ceremony held on the 28th
August, 2013 at the building of the Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC),
in Agbor.

                The
Agbor Divisional Police Officer, SP Dike Albert congratulated the new executive
but reminded them to be honest as some of their predecessors  failed to carry out their duties.

                He
urged them not to abuse the privilege given to them or be used by politicians
in any election.

                He
warned the security officers not to carry 
fire arms unless they are licensed to do so.

                The
D.P.O stressed  the need for the
vigilante members t o supervise their groups in various communities in the
local government regularly, as their chairman will be held responsible for any
crime committed by his members.

                The
police boss noted that they will enjoy the job only if they maintain the rules
governing their operations,  urging them
to always give the police credible information.

                Comr.
Monday Onyenkachukwu Alika, one time Ika South vigilante chairman was appointed
as the grand patron of the vigilante group.

                In
appreciation, the newly sworn  in
chairman, Comr. Ameachi Emenim, thanked the DPO and the PCRC executive for
their  efforts and promised to work
diligently  within the rules and
regulation so as to  make Ika South a
crime free local government.

                Mr.
Godwin Igudia, vice chairman of the group, on behalf of others promised they
will use the position given to them to curb crime in Ika South.

                Congratulating
the executive, the PCRC chairman, Chief Darlington Igheghe urged them to lead
by example and also report crime cases in their area of jurisdiction to the
police for investigation.

                He
wished them well and prayed for team work among the members.

                 On his part, Comr. Alika, thanked the police
boss and the PCRC executive for the position given to him with a  promise to work and support the vigilante
groups financially and morally.

                At
the end of the ceremony, SP. Dike Albert donated a Peugeot  504 vehicle to the vigilante executive.
