IRU (Ika weekly) – The Idumu-Oson Community in Iru town, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State has donated an expanse of land to their illustrious son, Engr. Patrick Uwagwu as a mark of appreciation for his humanitarian efforts to the people in the area.
Announcing this at Iru town recently, the spokesman of the community, Mr. Benson Nwanjor said Idumu Oson community has decided to honour Engr. Patrick Uwagwu with the parcel of land because of the philanthropic and humanitarian services he has been rendering to the community.
Mr. Benson Nwanjor who is also the chairman of the community and a member of the Elders-in-Council described Engr. Patrick Uwagwu as a man of good conduct, adding that he is one of the Iru sons based out side the area that is always coming home to contribute his quotas towards the development of the community.
He urged Engr. Uwagwu, the Managing Director of GOPAC Nigeria Limited and Son of the Odionwere of the community to ensure that he establish an industry on the land to help create employment for the youths and develop the community.
Members of the committee that maped out the parcel of land for Engr. Uwagwu include Joseph Uwagwu, Ehije Asimgba, John Alika, Ikenchukwu Jacob and Johnson Ileh, as those present at the occasion were pa Jeremiah Uwagwu, representing the Odionwere of Iru, Pa Nwadadon Ijeh, Pa Bernard Agborma, Pa Emmanuel Usih and others.
Speaking at the occasion, Engr. Uwagwu thanked members of the community for the gift and promised that the land will be used for the purpose it was donated as he gave the assurance that work will soon commence on the land for the establishment of the proposed industry.
He said he will establish a project that will benefit members of the community as he called on all and sundry to co-operate with him so as to make the dream project a reality.
