BOJI-BOJI AGBOR (Ika Weekly) – Chief Peter Eboh has condemned in strong terms the seeming political marginalization of Umunede as a result of the one ward structure given to it.
Chief Eboh expressed his displeasure while granting audience to a group of youths who paid him a solidarity visit at his Boji-Boji, Agbor residence on Thursday.
He stated that the basis of the problems in the community was the one ward structure of the area; stressing that Umunede deserves at least three wards because of its large land mass and dense population, which he estimates to be in the region of ten thousand people.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain observed that so many villages in Ika land, which are not up to Umunede, have two to three wards. He pointed out that the arrangement has placed Umunede in a very disadvantaged position; observing that the cosmopolitan nature and socio-economic activities that go on, even at night was enough to enhance the political status of the area. He therefore called on the concerned authorities to address the anomaly.
Chief Eboh, while speaking on the forth-coming PDP congress called on all party faithfuls to conduct themselves well; stressing that it is another opportunity to strengthen the party. He said he was confident the congress will be successful.
He also extended his appreciation to the Federal Government for the dredging of Orogodo River that is currently going on; and at the same time called on the state government to rehabilitate the Old Lagos/Asaba road and all bad roads in Ika land.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Mr. Kingsley Tudonebi, said that the visit was to show appreciation to chief Eboh for his modest contributions to Ika land, and to identify with him politically.
Mr. Tudonebi stated that chief Eboh is a political leader who knows how to carry his people along. He thanked him for being part of the current drive to discover talents, who will become international champions tomorrow, through the sponsoring of football league matches among the various quarters in Umunede.
The final of the competition will be coming up before the end of this year.
