The Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has been described as the most eligible and credible person to represent the people of Delta North Senatorial District at the Senate. He has therefore been called upon to come out to give the much needed result yielding representation to the people of Anioma, who in the thinking and estimation of many have not been given the right representation at the national level.
In a statement issued by a group which goes by the nameTransparency Forum, which was made available to Ika Weekly on Wednesday, April 22, 2010, the body said that having taken a critical appraisal of the political antecedents of political leaders from the Anioma area, it arrived at the conclusion that the only person who has the political credentials and credibility to give quality, effective and pragmatic representation to the senatorial district, at the Senate was Dr. Okowa, who it described as "a grassroot politician, who believes in human empowerment and social development."
In the statement, which was jointly signed by Kenneth Aliemeke, Okoh Abaye, Nwaka Onwuka and Gilbert Egwu, the Forum said that it was "calling on Dr. Okowa to come and run for the 2011 senatorial election because of the innumerable achievements he has recorded since venturing into politics, adding that the time has come for the people of Anioma to reap the dividends of democracy from the national level.
The Forum while stressing that there was no going back in the call and support for the Ekwueme to run for the Senate seat in 2011 noted that the key to effective leadership and loyal followership is the ability of a leader to maintain a right and beneficial relationship with the people. "Political leaders need to know how to motivate their followers. This will be done best if the leader helps political followers experience political satisfaction, by way of empowerment, and infrastructural development of the community. And this is what stands Dr. Okowa out as the right person to go to the Senate for Delta North" the statement reads in part.
Transparency Forum which says it is a pressure group founded on the objective to support efficient and pragmatic representation both at local, state and national levels says it will not be deterred in its unalloyed support for Dr. Okowa for the Senate seat.
The body however frowned at the tearing of Okowa’s posters placed in strategic positions in Boji Boji metropolis maintaining that it will continue to give unwavering support to the political aspirations of Dr. Okowa, whom it referred to as the Ekwueme of Africa.
