Ede Millennium Plaza, located along Asaba-Benin express way, opposite AP Filing Station, Umunede, Ika North East Local Government Area, of Delta State was officially opened for business on Saturday 25th September, 2010.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, the chairman of the occasion, Sir Mark Idegwu, who is the managing director of Idegwu and Sons Ltd, Akumazi Umnocha, expressed delight at such a magnificent edifice which is to serve the needs of the people.
Describing Hotel business in this contemporary world, as technologically advanced, he hailed the CEO/MD of Ede Millennium Plaza, Mr. J.O. Ekwabu for his forsight.
According to Sir Idegwu, Umunede is well positioned geographically , where people come to ease their lives. He therefore called on the people of Umunede and environ to make good use of the opportunity, by making Millennium plaza, their choice hotel.
He commended Mr Ekwabu for remembering his father’s land by bringing his wealth home to invest, stressing that Hotel business in Nigeria has many challenges, and one of such challenges he said includes the poor maintenance.
Sir Idegwu however urged , Mr. Ekwuabu and the management of the hotel to constantly mainatain accurate record keeping of business on daily basis by updating their account. He appealed to all the invited guests to patronize the hotel.
High point of the occasion was the cutting of the tape by, Sir Idegwu to officially declare the hotel open and was witnessed by everyone present which, he officially declared the hotel opened.
In separate remarks, Chief Joseph Okafor, the Ochudo of Ute-Okpu kingdom and Chief Captain Gabriel Morka, the Ochibani of Akumazi kingdom. expressed their satisfaction the way the different apartment of the hotel is equipped. They called on the people of Ika land and beyond to use the hotel at their free time to relax and enjoy themselves.
Reception followed immediately after the commissioning as invited guests were lavished with different kinds of food and assorted drinks.
Personalities present at the occasion include, Prof and Mrs. L.N Ajuebor, Mr. Philip Osayi, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Akumabor, Chief Nwasiwe, the Ojinwayoeze of Ute-Ogbeje, Chief Maduagwu, the Odabemeze of Ute-Ogbeje Kingdom, Mr. and Mrs. Uche Nwani, Mr Chris, of Chris Guest House, Mr. Jude Isibor, branch Manager Bank PHB, Umunede, Mr. Dan Debe, Mr. Nicholas Emiji, Princes Adama, the musician for the day, the Hotelers Association of Nigeria and others.
