DIOKPA JOHN KIRIMONU OSIELE BECOME DIOKPA

a  of Alihame in the open field of Alihame
Community, in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State. He is aged 96
years

                Diokpa
is a title given to the oldest man in Alihame community. The man on whom the
title is conferred is expected to perform the traditional and ceremonial rites
of the community he represents. The installation was performed by
representatives from the following communities- Ewuru, Agbor-nta and Alihame.

                Speaking
with newsmen, one of the sons of the Diokpa, Mr. Victor Kirimonu Osiele thanked
God for preserving the life of his father and for making him the oldest man in
Alihame community. He appealed to the people of Alihame to cooperate with his
father to enable him lead the people alright. He prayed God to give him many
more years to live and wisdom to succeed in his new role as the Diokpa.                 

Mr. Osiele appreciated the support of
Alihame community, friends, well wishers and family members that came to
celebrate with them, praying that God will lead them safely back to their
respective destinations and grant them all their hearts desires.

                Climax
of the ceremony was the dynamic performance from Agholor Solomon Chukwuyenye
(ASO) musical group, as everyone danced to musical tunes. All those present at
the ceremony were also treated to sumptuous meals and drinks.

                Social
and religious associations present at the ceremony were: Eitu Onyeru Ali Ochor
Nwene, Benin Branch; Children of God Association, The Young Shall Grow, Eitu-
Alionye; Eitu Onyeoghani. Other dignitaries in attendance were Dr. (Mrs) J. E.
Konyeme, Deputy Provost COE, Agbor Mr. B.O. Awana, Mr. Martins Onyeijen, Mr.
J.K  Agborgun, Hon Fidelis Aghagbon and
others.
