IKA WEEKLY – The military career of a second-year student of Nigeria Defence Academy, Zaria, Mr. Tony Iwezu, has been disrupted as a result of leg injury he sustained in an accident recently.
Mr. Iwezu who hails from Ekuku-Agbor, disclosed that he was on a bike that was taking him to the motor park, on his way back to Kaduna, where he was a second year student of Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), Zaria, when the incident occurred.
According to him, the accident, which occurred along the Benin/Asaba expressway by Mariere street junction, Agbor was caused by the Police team on the highway, who were struggling to pick the money thrown at them by the driver of a moving vehicle. In the process causing a mild hold-up that necessitated an oncoming Dangote truck with legislation no. XB 145 GML from Onitsha, in an attempt to avoid crushing the Police officers, ran into them, leading to the instant death of two persons.
Mr. Iwezu stated that it was God that saved him and his cousin, Chuks Obakpolor, who was carrying him on his bike.
He said they have made repeated representation to the MTD (police authorities) without any positive response from them, adding that they were only advised to go to the management of Dangote Company.
Speaking also to Ika Weekly, Mr. Chuks Obakpolor, cousin to Mr. Iwezu, who was conveying him to the motor park, said the accident happened so fast that it was when he found himself in the gutter that he realized they had been involved in a terrible accident.
Mr. Obakpolor who was carrying a plaster of paris(POP) disclosed that he sustained serious head injury which was stiched and treated at the onset but that it requires another surgery to put things in order.
Mr. Obakpolor, who hails from Ogbemudein, Ime-Obi, Agbor, and an electrician, requires another major operation to relieve him of the pains he is currently going through.
