years, many movies have been produced in different local Nigerian languages to
the standard of Nigeran Nollywood Industry, such languages include Ibo, Bini,
Hausa, Yoruba, etc. This necessitated the birth of language channels in DSTV.
Today, it is a thing of joy as Ika has joined the Nollywood language Industry
with the first Ika Nollywood Movies titled ONYENKUZI directed by Percy Monday
Edoki, an award winning movies producer being recognized by Nollywood.
Reacting to the
development, Mr. Edoki said, Before now I feel bad as an Ika man when watching
other tribes speak their languages in movies. I picked up the challenge to see
how Ika can be linked into international media houses, today, I am glad that
ONYENKUZI before the end of 2013 will be on the screen in some international
media houses. This will make our sons and daughters abroad to see that Ika
language is not left out in the Nollywood industry.
Mr. Edoki therefore
urged Ika people to always endeavour to support the movies industry in all
capacity even as he disclosed that efforts are still on in bringing films
market to Ika land.
