Girl escapes death as Dangote truck collides with Toyota Hiace

A young
girl narrowly escaped death on Sunday, January 11, 2015 as a truck belonging to
Dangote group of companies collided with the Toyota Hiace bus she boarded. The
accident victim who lost her left hand in the process could not give her
identity as she was in pain when our reporters visited the accident scene. The
accident occurred at the Umunede axis of the Benin/Asaba expressed road.

Sympathizers
who thronged the scene blamed the Dangote driver for reckless driving.

Ika
weekly gathered that that the Toyota Hiace bus was loaded with passengers and
was heading towards Benin, when it collided with the Dangote truck at  Umunede. The truck driver and his conductor
were said to have taken to their heels, 
immediately the accident occurred.

As at the
time of filling this report, the young girl has been rushed to a nearby
hospital for medical treatment.

 

CAR RAMS INTO RESIDENTIAL BUILDING

A high
lander Jeep on January 5, 2015 rammed into the house of Mr. Daniel Ngemegwai at
Ekwuoma, in  Ika North east Local
Government area.

                Speaking to newsmen, Mr. Daniel
Ngemegwai said they were asleep when the car rammed into his house. According
to him, “the noise of the car woke us up after it had forced its way into our
apartment. Property worth millions of naira were destroyed in the process. I am
thankful to God  for saving our lives”.

Ika
Weekly gathered that the driver of the ill-fated car was heading towards
Agbor  on top speed when he lost control
of the car while trying to overtake another vehicle.
