One gunned down as police foils robbery attack

Nigerian Police men recently foiled an robbery attack along Owa Alero/
Idumuesah road in Ika North East local Government Area on Monday, January 12,
2015.

According
to a policeman, who did not want his name in print, “they received a distress
call at about 5: 30pm on the said day that armed robbers were operating at the
Julius Berger Bridge along Owa Alero/ Idumuesah road”. He said that, it was
upon this information that they swung into action.

“When we
got there, we engaged the robbers in gun battle. In the process one of the
robbers was gunned down whose body was found in the bush along Owa Alero/
Ute-Okpu road the next day.”

                The police officer said that it
was upon thorough search that they discovered the body of the robber with a
bullet wound on his head. He said that they also received information that arm
robbers were attemping  to rob a Sinopec
Oil and Gas company, Plot-2 Giwa-Amu, an Oil company based in Edo State,
working with Pan Occean Oil and Gas company at Owa- Alidinma.

The items
recovered from the corpse include N 3,000 Glo recharge cards, two cutlasses and
a charm. The identity of the corpse was unknown at press time.

It was
also discovered that one Mr. Emonanual Nwobo, a worker at the Sino-Pec Oil and
Gas Company was shut by the hoodlums during the gun battle. Mr. Nwobo
currently, is at an undisclosed hospital receiving treatment.
