The Okowa I know

To start
with, let me congratulate my able Senator and amiable politician, Dr. Ifeanyi
Okowa for his victory at the PDP governorship primaries held on December 8,
2014. It is a testimony to the excellent politics of Dr. Okowa, his grassroot
appeal, unfetered loyalty, patience, prayer, quiet and humble approach and
above all, the hand of God and destiny which rewards hard work and the desire
to put the interest of the masses above all other interests. It is noteworthy
that Okowa excelled at the national assembly where he sponsored a revolutionary
health bill which if put to practice will make Nigeria a health tourism
destination in Africa and the world. I first got to know the person of Okowa
when I was a student at the University of Benin. He usually comes when we have
our cultural days. In those days when he was appointed the commissioner for
Agriculture and then for health, he visited a couple of times with a good
entourage of Ika sons and daughters. Being a natural crowd puller and very
unassuming, he came in smart and simple dressing and made the Ika cultural days
the envy of Uniben community any time he comes with is entourage. He will bring
people who are also friends of students and they would support financially. I
want to thank God that my silent prayers for Okowa’s emergence at the PDP
primary elections has been answered, because I am sure Okowa will not betray
the trust of Deltans. He is by far the most qualified for that post and Delta
State is lucky to have Okowa as a potential governor come February 2015. The
other time I came near to having a close contact with  Senator Okowa was when he was the SSG at
Asaba, I was looking for job in 2009, so I went to his office, the first day I
met him I told him that I needed a job. He told me to come back when they advertise
for Delta teaching service and when I went back, I did not see him again, I
just called him to tell him that I am the person that was looking for job
through his secretary, he said make a photocopy of your application and bring
it, that was how I got the teaching job that I am doing today. It tells me of a
man that has human sympathy and who is ready to help when it is in his power.
Whenever people are arguing that Okowa did not do this or that, I don’t join
them because I know that Okowa is ready to help
at anytime  when it is in his
power neither do I see him as having egos to put road block on the way of
people that wants to see him. See what God has begun to do for him today, which
is a reward of long years of patience, loyalty and forbearance. And the
Almighty God in his infinite goodness has rewarded his cool headedness and
comradeship including professional competence, empathy and humane disposition
to other human beings. I want to once again congratulate him on his worthy
achievement and make a commitment to mobilizing numerous youths to  vote massively for Okowa in the forthcoming
gubernatorial elections in February 28 I also want to express my joy at the
turn of politics in Ika  land arising
from the last gubernatorial primaries. I want to praise the very commendable
showing of a worthy professional and great politician, Mr. Tony Obuh at the
primaries; Dr. Cairo Ojuigboh, and Barr. Frank Nwago who showed unflinching
loyalty to the governor, Dr. Udughan. I want to commend their effort, also want
to commend the understanding of our brothers from Delta South and Central who
supported the emergence of Okowa. I want to assure every one that Okowa is the
man that has a state wide grassroots appeal and as such is very sellable and a
Pan-Delta PDP candidate com February 2015. I was all political actors in Delta
State and Nigeria in General to remember to extend hands of fellowship to
co-contestants and build a formidable team that can once again win a land slide
victory in favour of all PDP candidates. Okowa and Dr. Cairo, the PDP National
Organizing secretary south-south should work together for the interest of Ika
land and the benefit of the masses. Politics will begin to make sense when it
attracts development and dividends of democracy to the grassroots and the
benefit of every man.

Once
again, hearty congratulations to a worthy flag bearer in the person of Dr.
Okowa from me and all the members of Delta Vision League of Professionals.
Cheers and kudos to the hope of greater Delta State.
