IKA NORTH EAST TRANSITION COMMITTEE ADVISED TO WORK AS A TEAM

IGBODO (Ika Weekly) – The Ika North East transition caretaker committee members have been advised to work as a team in order to achieve the dream of the administration.

                            

The advice was given by His Royal Majesty,Obi Ikechukwu Osedume 1, the Obi of Igbodo on the occasion of the familiarization tour of the committee on Thursday.

                            

The monarch who spoke through Prince Justin U. Iyeke enumerated the problem and needs of Igbodo to include erosion menace, facilities, low government patronage, unemployment among others, and appealed to the committee to come to their aid so as to give Igbodo people a sign of relief and a sense of belonging.

                            

He enjoined every Igbodo indigene to pray for the team’s success as they pilot the affairs of the Local Government Council.

                            

The Royal father thanked the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and all who made the appointment of Dame Patience N. Iyasere as Chairman of the council possible

                            

Responding, Mrs. Iyasere promised to do everything within her power to alleviate the suffering of the people, adding that the caretaker committee administration is hinged on the three point agenda of peace and security, environmental sanitation and human/infrastructual development.

                            

The chairman appealed to the people to maintain and uphold the principles of democracy, and shun restiveness in all ramifications because it does not bring progress and development to any community.

                            

She reminded the people that the Local Government elections are at hand, and therefore expects all and Sundry to come out enmasse to vote the candidate of their choice.

                            

Mrs. Iyasere said the committee’s visit is to make themselves available to the royal father and their subjects as progressive partners in the task ahead, and keep Igbodo community abreast with the importance of friendly environment and cleanliness which is one of the major focal point of the transition committee government.

                            

She disclosed that second Saturday of every month has been set aside for Local Government environmental sanitation, adding that three best towns will be given award of excellence.

                            
The tour was also extended to other traditional rulers and community leaders in Ika North East Local Government Areas.
