Registrar of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Mr. Andrew E. Onyemakonor was killed in a ghastly motor accident between Obiaruku and Abraka on February 11th.
The accident, which occurred at the weekend, involved two cars and a lorry which were trying to avoid a bad portion on the Obiaruku-Abraka Road. According to witnesses the driver of an oncoming vehicle was trying to dodge the bad patch in the middle of the road when he suddenly saw a lorry and swerved the car, leading to a head-on collision with the car conveying the Registrar.
DELSU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Enaohwo and Provost of the Oleh campus of the institution, Prof. Victor Peretomode, were reported to have visited the home of the late registrar to console his family members. The Registrar, who it was learnt was due for retirement in November this year, was being driven at the time of the accident by his official driver, who luckily survived the accident and is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
