LATE MAMA JIMAIMA OKOLIE HONOURED

OWERRE-OLUBOR (Ika Weekly) – The memory of late mama Jimaima Okolie, mother of Mr. Clement Okolie of Delta State Transport Service has been honoured in a grand style in Owerre-Olubor on Sunday.

The occasion which drew dignitaries from all walks of life started with a memorial service at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Owerre-Olubor, after which guests were treated to a grand reception at home.

According to a brief biography of late mama Jimaima read by one of the grand-children, she was born into the family of late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nwani of Owerre-Olubor in 1931 and got married to late Pa Okolie Nwaka of Umuikpulu quarters of the same town in 1951.

The biography stated that the marriage was blessed with five children, one of which slept in the Lord at a tender age, pointing out the once little family has today grown into a large family of four children, thirty-six (36) grand-children and ten (10) great grand children.

In a chat with Ika Weekly, one of the daughters, Mrs. Charity Sholokwu said the children decided to honour their mother because she answered the call of death when they were too young to understand the true meaning of death, noting that since they, the children are now fully grown and doing well in their different fields of human endeavour, it is wise to honour their mother with thanksgiving memorial service.
