SPORTS SCRIBE MAKES CASE FOR HANDICAPS

BOJI-BOJI OWA (Ika weekly) – The Organizing Secretary, Special Sports Administrator, Delta State Sports Council, Asaba, Mr. Egbain Samuel has expressed his willingness to assist the handicapped in Ika land into the Special Sports programme of the state.

           

Mr. Egbain who made the pledge when he granted interview with Ika Weekly at Boji-Boji Owa on Friday, said he has assisted in registering interested handicapped persons of Ika land into the special sports programme at Asaba.

           

The sports organizing secretary revealed that recently, one Patrick Ojeme from Ekuku-Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area who completed his NCE programme at College of Education, Agbor, is currently doing well in Table Tennis department at the Sports Council, Asaba.

           

Mr. Egbain who regretted the low level of sporting activities in Ika land revealed that some handicapped sports men and women are training hard for the forth-coming national sports for the handicapped billed for Kaduna in 2008.

           

Mr. Egbain who is a native of Owa-Ekei in Ika North East Local Government Area, appealed to corporate organizations to help in the effort at putting smiles on the faces of the handicapped persons in the society by recognizing them and helping them to become better men and women, rather than abandoning them to feel frustrated and inferior among others.

           

He expressed gratitude to Mr. S. Agboola, State Coach and Mr. Uzor Ozoma, State Principal Organizing Secretary in the State Sports Council for their wonderful initiative in moving the special sports programme forward in the state.
