Putting aside the pressure and demands of their profession, which they regard as the oldest and most respected in the world, the executive and members of the Nigerian Bar-Association, NBA, Agbor branch decided to unwind as they held a Get-together on Tuesday December, 29, 2009 at Pace Hotel, Agbor.
Welcoming everyone to the occasion, the chairman of the event, who is also the chairman of the NBA, Agbor branch, Sir J.O. Ojobu said that the get-together was organized to create opportunity for practicing lawyers in Agbor to fraternize and also release tension associated with their profession.
Sir Ojobu dwelling on the recent crisis that bedeviled the Agbor Bar said "we have been able to overcome the major storm of the year in our association. Today, I can proudly tell you that NBA in Agbor is one indivisible family, more united than ever. The issue of authentic executive has been resolved by the national body at Abuja. The NBA national constitution made provision for a single tenure and that was what guided our national executive in resolving the issue smoothly. We are greatful to God that the matter is now behind us. We will now collectively strive to move the NBA, Agbor forward, notwithstanding the embarrassment we all felt as a result of the little difference we had."
Sir. Ojobu who disclosed that the Agbor Bar was number 14 in Nigeria stressed that the branch was too small in terms of numerical strength to engage and accommodate factional groupings. He therefore solicited for the cooperation of all members in other to reposition the association. He however, warned that the current administration will not tolerate any glaring intransigence by any love ourselves. Those who were misled will be gladly and wholeheartedly accepted back into the fold, except those who are still recalcitrant who will appear before the Disciplinary committee. However we are still strecting our hands of fellowship to all our leaned brothers."
The NBA Chairman noting that lawyers are the custodians of truth, justice human rights within the social mulleiu, commended all who have been part of the NBA, Agbor and advised that nobody should allow personal grievances to tear the body apart. While appreciating the wives of members for their understanding, he urged them to continue to maintain the same level of understanding the husbands.
