ELECTRIC POLE POSES DANGER TO RESIDENTS OF ODEH STREET

Residents of Odeh street, by Shalom Primary School have cried out to the authorities concerned to come to their aid and change the electric pole that has been leaning on a sign post for some time now, saying that the electric pole is posing a great danger to the people of the area.

Speaking to Ika Weekly recently concerning the electric pole a middle-aged woman who spoke on grounds of anonymity, said that the electric pole which was affected by the rain storm that occurred sometime in the month of April 2010 has been leaning on the sign post and posing a danger to passers-by and residents alike. She stated that, they have reported the fallen pole to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and that even though they have been assured of the prompt replacement, the electric pole as at the time of this interview, nothing has been done by the PHCN authories.

Also speaking, a school teacher in the area who also pleaded for anonymity, said that if the electric pole is left unattended to, it may cause a lot of destruction to lives and properties and that it can also lead to a total blackout in the area for a long time. He therefore called on the authories of PHCN, come to the spot where the electric pole is leaning on a signpost along Odeh Street, by Shalom Primary School, and do something about it.

As at the time of filing this report the electric pole is still in the leaning position by the street.
