CTC RESIDENTS FLAY COUNCIL ORDER; BLOCKED STREET WITH REFUSE DUMP

“Health
they say is wealth.” To ensure and remain in good health, every
individual is expected to maintain a healthy and clean environment,
for that is the surest guaranty to longevity in life. Ironically this
statement has gone awry as some residents, as well as traders in the
CTC market, Agbor, have decided to be dumping their refuse in the
street (Dibie Street), contrary to the order placed at the Dibie
Street end of the market by the Environmental Department of Ika South
Local Government Council, forbidding anyone living around the market
to dump refuse indiscriminately, except in the authorized council
site, situated at the back of the market.

Most
of is nefarious act a source revealed are done in the nights by the
eggheads in the area, where no one will see or challenge them. The
source also said that, it is not only CTC residents and traders that
are constituting the nuisance, also involved, are some people from
neighbouring streets of Odeh, Okwuokenyen, Egun and Melekwe. When
Ika
Weekly
visited the illegal refuse dump site at the market during the week,
the sign post which, reads: (Do Not Dump Your Refuse Here), erected
by the Ika South Local Government Council has been covered with waste
materials ranging from foam, and other smelly used substances. Even
the Dibie Street axis of the market is almost becoming impassable due
to the ugly and unhealthy nature of the area.

Notably,
the Environmental Department of Ika South Local Government Council
under the supervision of one Mr. Tony Enyin, has on 17th
June, this year evacuated a mountainous refuse, illegally dumped at
the same site of the CTC market. Mr. Enyin, however, had earlier in
his encounter with our reporter, disclosed the averred commitment of
the Hon. Hilary Ibude led administration to rid Ika South of refuse
(waste materials), a step which residents in the local government are
supposed to complement.
